It started with a yes

Someone has always kept watch. Watchman, guard, door supervisor, security officer: the name keeps changing, the job never has. What did change is the way in. For most of history you got this work by knowing someone.

Then in August 2007, a man walked into Shahzad Ali's recruitment office and asked: "Do you offer security guard training?" The answer was "yes, we do", and Get Licensed was born.

Shahzad had worked security himself, so he knew what that man was really up against: too many hoops between wanting the work and being allowed to do it. That yes became a mission to build one simple route in. Training near you, then the licence, then work through GuardPass. More than 450,000 people have trained with us since.

Behind all of it sits one idea we have never changed:

Reviews on Trustpilot

There's more to security work than most people can see

It's skilled work

Reading a crowd, calming someone with nothing but your voice, making the right call in seconds. From the outside it looks like standing at a door. Up close it takes real skills.

People are counting on you

The festival that ran smoothly, the night out that ended safely. Nobody claps, but everyone in that building was trusting someone to keep watch. Not many jobs give you that.

The skills stay with you

De-escalation, conflict management, first aid, judgement under pressure. What you learn keeping people safe works in every room you will ever walk into.

It goes as far as you push it

Doors to corporate. CCTV to control room supervisor. Team leader to running your own firm. The licence is where it starts, not where it ends.
