There is no official maximum age limit to work in security. As long as you can meet the physical and mental demands of the job, you can work in the industry. While employers may have specific requirements (e.g. hiring security guards who haven’t yet turned 60), there’s no official upper age limit, and you can still apply for security roles you’re physically fit for. 

No, GCSEs are not required to become a CCTV Operator. However, you must complete an SIA-approved CCTV operator training course and obtain an SIA licence to work legally in the UK.

You’ll need an SIA CCTV Operator licence, which requires completing a regulated CCTV operator training course. Depending on the role you’re applying for, you may also be asked to complete additional training courses, such as the security guard training course or door supervisor course. You must also be eligible to work in the UK and be able to communicate in English.

CCTV Operators work in control rooms for shopping centres, transport hubs, public spaces, office buildings, and city councils.

No, CCTV monitoring must be done from a licensed control room.
