The Close Protection Top-Up course is for existing SIA Licence holders who wish to renew their Close Protection SIA Licence.
Why do I need to attend a Close Protection Top-Up course - I am already experienced and have worked for years in the industry
This refresher course is for close protection officers applying to renew their licence as of October 1st 2022. If you are applying to renew your close protection officer licence, there are now updated elements to the qualification. That means you’ll need to learn a few new elements, and you will also briefly refresh previously learned content.
How long is the SIA Close Protection Top-Up training?
The course is covered over three-five days.
What will I learn?
Previous content has been refreshed and updated, and in addition, the course has four new units which cover:
First Aid requirement for Close Protection Top-Up Training
You must also take a first aid qualification. This must be the First Aid at Work (FAW) course.
What are the applicant requirements for the course?
Since this is a top-up refresher course, those taking this course should previously have taken the full close protection course and wish to renew their licence. Applicants will be over 18 and must have at least a reasonable fitness level due to the physical requirements of the role. You also need to have taken the FAW course.
How much is the Close Protection Top-Up Training?
The course costs starts from £350.
What is the assessment for this course?
The assessment includes 4 multiple choice questions and 2 practical assessments:
MCQ 1) Principles of Terror Threat Awareness in the Private Security Industry (10 questions, 20 minutes)
MCQ 2) Principles of Working as a Door Supervisor for Close Protection Operatives in the Private Security Industry (29 questions, 45 minutes)
MCQ 3) Application of Physical Intervention Skills for Close Protection Operatives in the Private Security Industry (30 questions, 45 minutes) (and 1x Practical Assessment)
MCQ 4) Application of physical intervention skills in the private security industry (30 questions, 45 minutes) (and 1x Practical Assessment)
