About the SIA Door Supervisor Training course in Manchester
The course runs over 6 consecutive days and is divided into 4 units and covers everything from the legal aspects of working in security to the latest physical intervention techniques. NEW SIA Course Update (April 2021) From April 1st this course will become a 6 day course instead of a 4 day course. In addition, you must have a first aid qualification before you can take the training. This should be an Emergency First Aid at work certificate or higher.

A door supervisor is licensed to work in venues that serve alcohol—like bars, nightclubs, and festivals—where managing entry, crowd control, and incidents is crucial. A security guard, on the other hand, cannot work in licensed venues and is typically based in offices, retail stores, or warehouses. Door supervisors receive extra training in physical intervention, making their role more specialised.
Most door supervisors earn between £12 and £23 per hour, depending on location, experience, and type of venue. Roles in high-risk environments or requiring extra qualifications (like close protection) can pay significantly more.
A Door Supervisor can work in licensed premises, such as nightclubs, bars, hotels, and event venues, as well as in retail stores, corporate buildings, festivals, and stadium security.
You don’t need to be an athlete, but good general fitness helps. You should be able to stay alert during long shifts, stay calm under pressure, and handle physical intervention safely if required. Endurance, awareness, and composure matter more than brute strength.
Once you complete your training and pass the exams, the SIA licence application typically takes 2 to 6 weeks to process.

Getting to your training venue in Leeds
Train Travelling to the venue at Hilton Hotel in Leeds is super easy by train. Leeds has a large train station with trains arriving from all over the UK and the local area every minute of the day.

Travelling to the Hilton hotel from the train station is also easy. There’s no need to get a taxi, the hotel is a short walk from the station. Just walk south east on New Station street and take the pedestrian tunnel stairs. Then right onto Neville street for 150 metres and right onto Little Neville street for another 40 metres and you are at the destination in just 4 minutes.
Parking Driving in Leeds can be a little hectic with a one-way system to negotiate. Car parks in the city centre are also relatively expensive. You can expect to pay up to £20 to park your car for the day. So bear this in mind if you choose to drive to the venue. The city has several car parks and ones further out of the city are more reasonably priced.

Granary Wharf is also within a few minutes walk of the Hilton with loads of bars and restaurants offering amazing food. Or grab a snack at Dave’s Pies at Back Row, Holbeck, Leeds LS11 5PL.
The Caracas Grill is close to the venue at 16 York Pl, Leeds LS1 2EU and serves excellent Latin food and tapas at a low price. The Whitehall restaurant and bar is also close by and reasonably priced serving English grub. If you fancy an Indian at a great price, then try Tharvadu at 7-8 Mill Hill, Leeds LS1 5DQ, which is also within 10 minutes walk from the venue.
