A door supervisor is licensed to work in venues that serve alcohol—like bars, nightclubs, and festivals—where managing entry, crowd control, and incidents is crucial. A security guard, on the other hand, cannot work in licensed venues and is typically based in offices, retail stores, or warehouses. Door supervisors receive extra training in physical intervention, making their role more specialised. 

Most door supervisors earn between £12 and £23 per hour, depending on location, experience, and type of venue. Roles in high-risk environments or requiring extra qualifications (like close protection) can pay significantly more.

A Door Supervisor can work in licensed premises, such as nightclubs, bars, hotels, and event venues, as well as in retail stores, corporate buildings, festivals, and stadium security.

You don’t need to be an athlete, but good general fitness helps. You should be able to stay alert during long shifts, stay calm under pressure, and handle physical intervention safely if required. Endurance, awareness, and composure matter more than brute strength.

Once you complete your training and pass the exams, the SIA licence application typically takes 2 to 6 weeks to process.

If you are coming from Bletchley Train Station, transfer to Bletchley Bus Station and catch bus number 162. Get off at Fenny Stratford, Wharfside where it will only take about a 3-minute walk to arrive at the training venue. Instead of taking the bus, you can shorten the travel time to 3 minutes via taxi for £7 - £9. 

From Bow Brickhill Train Station, it’s best to head onto Fenny Stratford Train Station and follow the same directions as suggested above. 

 

Parking
The training venue at Hôtel Campanile Milton Keynes offers free parking. If there are no parking spaces across from the hotel is Pink Punters Car Park where you can also park for free. If you go to the centre such as Brunel Shopping Centre and Agora Shopping Centre for lunch, you can park at Albert St South Carpark.
