Highly recommended

โ€œHighly recommended. I did the DS and CCTV courses within two weeks of each other. Both the tutors were engaging and very experienced and knowledgeable in their field. Despite both courses being relatively short, I feel they pack in a lot of material. There are also lots of practical activities that help prepare you for front line security work. Once again, I high recommend training with Get Licensed!โ€

I have been working in security for 30โ€ฆ

โ€œI have been working in security for 30 years starting with 10 years as a full time door supervisor and then 20 years in house NHS security officer in a busy city centre hospital with a war zone called A&E Since leaving I needed to get my SIA . This course is really good and itโ€™s far from an attend course you need to apply yourself and it will give you the grounding to be a first class operative to start a career and progress in security. Great trainer in Dave Watts a first class instructor and man. This course is first class and Get Licensed make booking, learning a great experienceโ€

Get Licensed is the best

โ€œGet Licensed is indeed, the best place to take your security training. I just completed my Door Supervisor Training with them and was trained by Rob Worthington. Rob is the best trainer I have ever seen. You know why, its because he really trains from experience. He treated everyone fairly and makes the training very interesting, practical and experiential. I sincerely entreat everyone that seeks to take any security training course to do that with Get Licensed. You would enjoy it and learn a lot.โ€

Clear and Concise

โ€œThe trainer Amy was really patient, helpful and informative. All lessons were delivered with clarity along with a very professional attitude. Sering was also excellent. He conveyed information in a friendly helpful manner and made the class feel at ease. Good staff are hard to find and both are assets to the Industry.โ€

Not sure where to start?
We'll clear it up!

A door supervisor is licensed to work in venues that serve alcoholโ€”like bars, nightclubs, and festivalsโ€”where managing entry, crowd control, and incidents is crucial. A security guard, on the other hand, cannot work in licensed venues and is typically based in offices, retail stores, or warehouses. Door supervisors receive extra training in physical intervention, making their role more specialised.ย

Most door supervisors earn between ยฃ12 and ยฃ23 per hour, depending on location, experience, and type of venue. Roles in high-risk environments or requiring extra qualifications (like close protection) can pay significantly more.

A Door Supervisor can work in licensed premises, such as nightclubs, bars, hotels, and event venues, as well as in retail stores, corporate buildings, festivals, and stadium security.

You donโ€™t need to be an athlete, but good general fitness helps. You should be able to stay alert during long shifts, stay calm under pressure, and handle physical intervention safely if required. Endurance, awareness, and composure matter more than brute strength.

Once you complete your training and pass the exams, the SIA licence application typically takes 2 to 6 weeks to process.

The SIA licence application fee is ยฃ184. This does not include training cost.

The exam covers multiple-choice questions and practical scenarios, including conflict management and physical intervention. With proper course attendance and preparation, most people pass on their first try. Get Licensed also offers free exam retakes to support learners.

You can download the GuardPass app, create your profile, and apply for security jobs with top employers. GuardPass connects licensed security professionals with leading security companies in the UK.

Yes. While the term 'bouncer' is commonly used, a door supervisor is the legal, SIA-recognised term. Bouncers often refer to unlicensed security staff, whereas Door Supervisors are fully trained and licensed professionals.

No, being muscular is not a requirement for becoming a door supervisor. Security work is about awareness, communication, and conflict resolution rather than physical strength. Training in de-escalation, conflict resolution, and situational awareness is more valuable than sheer size.
